Music at Redeemer
“. . . the prophets did not make use of any art except music when setting forth their theology. . . . they held theology and music most tightly connected, and proclaimed truth through Psalms and songs.” Martin Luther
Being Music Director in a denomination whose founder was himself a musician, is a pleasure. Martin Luther had a good true singing voice, played the lute to a professional standard, composed and performed music at every opportunity – around his dinner table, caroling in the streets and, of course, in church to express his theology.
To top it all off, his opening words in a proposed treatise on music – “I love music.” Amen, Martin

Music on Sunday Morning
- During the year (September – June) most services are traditional with hymns, sung responses, choir anthem, organ prelude and postlude. Redeemer is a congregation that sings enthusiastically, be prepared to participate
- Periodically the 10:15 service is a more contemporary format with piano, Pastor Linderman’s guitar and other instruments accompanying congregational singing
- During the summer (July – August) the choir is on break. Services vary from week to week between traditional and contemporary. Pastor Linderman leads the contemporary services with guitar. The Sunday following Vacation Bible School features the children and songs from their VBS experience
We welcome participation from anyone who loves music
- Choir – anyone high school and adult are welcome to sing with our choir. We rehearse Thursday evenings 7:30-9:00pm September through mid-June and sing each Sunday morning at the 10:15 service.
- Handbells – from time-to-time we use our handbells to accompany a choir anthem or hymn, or to present special music. We are recruiting interested ringers
- Instrumentalists – we are blessed with several talented soloists who play special music for services, and are always looking for others
- Youth – a number of Redeemer youth play instruments and play as an ensemble periodically. We are always looking for additional Middle and High School musicians to join the group.
- Children – often, children through 6th grade sing as part of their Sunday School experience. The pre-K group sings for Sunday services periodically during the year.
- Vacation Bible School – this program occurs each year for a week in early August. On the Sunday following, the children may present their songs at Sunday services.
