Coronavirus and the Church
Dear Redeemer community,

It seems as though the Coronavirus will affect our normal routines over the foreseeable future. I want to let you know some ways in which we anticipate that this upheaval will impact our life together as a congregation.

I encourage everyone to start with good communication based on trustworthy information. Redeemer is closely following all communication from federal and state government, local government and our local superintendent of schools. We are in regular contact with our community groups, renters and the LEAP school, and have excellent communication channels to our families in the congregation. If you do not receive our weekly “e-blast” emails, please contact the church office and provide your email to us.

Also, the Redeemer church council recently established an ad hoc committee to review possible impacts and procedures in the event that the virus outbreak worsens in our area. In the meantime, we will continue to meet for worship at the regular times, but we have already started practicing some social distancing measures, such as not shaking hands during the Sharing of the Peace. Communion during Lent is at the Communion Rail, which means each person gets their own small glass. There is plenty of hand sanitizer around, and your worship leaders are paying very close attention to hygiene. But if you feel uncomfortable among large groups of people, you should feel free to stay home. Please contact the church office with any pastoral needs.

Most of all, times like these are an opportunity to recall the promises of God. God is love, and love lives without fear. While we are cautious and careful, we are also confident in community and trust in God’s steadfast love, which holds us in the power of His eternal life, especially now, but also forever.
Yours in Christ,
PL

A Successful Ramsey Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service!
Thanks to all from the community who came out to give thanks on the Sunday afternoon before the Thanksgiving holiday. The service was held at St. John's this year. Redeemer church members and choir members joined their fellow Christians and colleagues From St. John’s Episcopal, First Presbyterian and St Paul’s RC. Redeemer's own Jennifer Hommez and Steven Koestner joined A.J. Minatulo from First Presbyterian for the solos.

ELCA proclaims itself a "Sanctuary Church" (Aug. 7, 2019)
To help clarify what transpired, Pastor Linderman put together a resource that he hopes will contextualize what this does and does not mean for us. This resource page contains links to other pages on his blog, in which he's laid out the process and background of these actions. Feel free to contact the church office with any questions.

Redeemer raises $2000 for the "Bishop's Cow Challenge"!
Last year, our Bishop of the New Jersey Synod invited Lutheran churches in NJ to raise $500 toward the provision of a cow to a qualified family in developing countries. Redeemer raised $2000 for the Cow Challenge!  Thanks for all your support. The total for all the ELCA Lutheran Churches in the NJ Synod was tallied at over $360,000 as of June 6, 2019. These donations go to the ELCA World Hunger appeal, which works with local agencies to establish dairy cows in qualified communities.

Other News:
Our Church Musician, Fran Morton, recently made a splash in In Tempo, the resource newsletter of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians. Her letter was a response to an article about working with volunteers. You can read the original article and Fran's letter to the editor, which begins on the 3rd page, here.

What's our Logo about?
The "Lamb and Flag" is not just a great pub in Oxford, England. It is an old symbol of the church. The Lamb is Jesus Christ, "who takes away the sins of the world." The flag is the Christian flag--Red Cross on a white background. Together, they stand for the work and legacy of our "Redeemer," Jesus Christ.
